For over two decades, TAAL has worked alongside marginalized communities across Madhya Pradesh not as providers of solutions, but as partners in building dignity, rights, and lasting change. We believe communities hold the knowledge and agency to shape their own futures. That’s why every initiative begins with listening to the people whose voices matter most.
Inspired by the belief that stories shape imagination and learning, TAAL launched a community-based reading initiative to cultivate a culture of reading among children. The programme establishes neighbourhood Book Reading Centres where trained volunteers read aloud to children, creating safe, engaging spaces that foster curiosity, language development, creativity, and critical thinking.
TAAL introduced renewable energy as a livelihood solution by establishing solar charging stations in remote tribal villages. We continued our collaboration with the institutions of local governance.
TAAL's early years focused on empowering democratic institutions by strengthening Panchayati Raj representatives and Gram Sabha members in the scheduled areas of Madhya Pradesh (Study in 42 urban local bodies in MP to assess impact of 74th amendment of the Constitution of India), laying the foundation for participatory local governance.

TAAL envisions society as, learning communities that promote a bottom-up, holistic and integrated approach with appropriate interventions to long-term sustainable development, in the process helping generate wisdom across generations.
Develop mechanisms that promote learning within communities to improve people’s lives and choices, thus enabling them to strengthen their capacities to meet development.
